What to Expect when Publishing with BtB

If you publish with Beyond the Bookery, you will receive step by step assistance from your manuscript to marketing.

Beyond the Bookery provides custom interior and exterior design including, but not limited to cover and format design, graphic design, and more, an editing team will assist in providing the right revisions to keep your story true to you. Marketing assistance will begin from the start of your acceptance progress when the marketing team will lay out the right publishing plan and map for you and your story.

We look forward to helping you share your story with the world and pray that we are a blessing to you and that your readers are encouraged while you walk your writing journey with our faith centered publishing team.

Submission GuideLINES

  • In the FIRST of TWO documents provide your manuscript by the following rules:
    • Submission must follow the query guidelines
    • The story must be formatted as follows: text size 12, Times New Roman, line spacing 1.15, no indent at all.
    • Submissions must be submitted as Word doc, or Google doc. No other formats are accepted.
    • Submissions will be evaluated, proofread, and considered for publication by the editing team. If accepted, preliminary editing suggestions will be started while the publishing team reached out with the contract with any questions that come up.
    • Bible verses must be King James Version. No other version is accepted due to the publishing policy, copyright laws, and public domain.
    • No Disney references are allowed due to the publishing policy, copyright laws, and legal concerns.
    • Your story must be God-honoring and portray a plot line that reflects God’s love and honors Him! Your submission must also follow Beyond the Bookery’s Statement of Faith or be clean according to what is shown on our “what we’re looking for” page.
    • Please, no inappropriate behavior, no profanity, no use of the Lord’s name in vain, and keep it at a rating of around PG-13 or something you don’t mind a parent, grandparent, or kid siblings reading… Yes, this bears saying again.
    • Please put the title of your document as “TITLE – AUTHOR NAME – GENRE”.
    • If your story is for a BtB project (MAS, anthology, collection, etc.) please include that in the document title. Like so: “PROJECT NAME: TITLE – AUTHOR NAME”.
    • No use of generative AI in any form is allowed for stories submitted to Beyond the Bookery.
    • You will not harass, contact, defame, or bully anyone in the anthology, working with Beyond the Bookery, or in any way, shape, or form cause harm be it by words, actions, or in any way if you are not chosen as an author.(Anything against these rules and regulations will not be accepted nor considered due to a strong policy of keeping in line with our hopes for the anthology, beliefs, and what we hope to share with the world at large.)
    • All submissions made to Beyond the Bookery indicate your agreement with these rules and regulations and bind you to them in the case of your submission’s acceptance.

Query GuidelINES

In the SECOND OF TWO documents provide the following information:

  • Your Book Info
    • Book Title and subtitle
    • Tagline, blurb, and synopsis containing the beginning, middle, and end of the story
    • The era, what your book is a retelling of (if relevant), setting/s, and tropes of your manuscript as well as the main character/s descriptions
    • The content warnings for your manuscript’s faith, romance, and violence levels
    • Your word count or estimated word count if your manuscript is unfinished
    • Your hoped for publishing date
    • Your dedication, theme verse, quote, and/or song, your acknowledgements, and author’s note (including, but not limited to the following: glossary, pronunciation guide for name/s or language/s, cast of character/s, family tree/s, etc. (if relevant.).
    • Your spelling preferences (American/British/Canadian/Australian/Etc.)
    • Expectation of publishing with BtB
    • Level of preference on writing styles and editing preferences if relevant
    • Previous experience with beta reader/s, editor/s, etc.
  • Your Author Info
    • Name and pen name (if’s relevent)
    • Email address
    • Where you heard about BtB
    • Writing history
    • Author bio and author image, headshot or logo
  • Your Marketing and Social Media Info
    • Provide your marketing experience and/or plan for future releases
    • Your social media accounts including your URLs, usernames, number of followers, and/or interactions per each social media accounts
    • Your newsletter info including your link, subscriber count, when your newsletter was started, your regular number of emails opened per campaign sent, and any further relevant details
    • Your street team/launch team/ARC team experience including if you have a team currently or in the past. If not, if you’re ready to start one, how you plan to start a team,
    • Any further details you might want to include about your marketing and social media experiences

Your Submission and query to BtB means that you agree to the following

You understand that the submitted story is considered final and that further updates prior to contract and editing are not taken into account when considering a work for publication during evaluation by BtB’s editing team.

You understand that your submission means that you are in agreement with BtB’s Statement of Faith

You understand that the submission you make means that you agree to allow BtB’s editors to make editing suggestions if the story is accepted

You understand that BtB does not accept any form of bullying or harassment of any kind and any such instances with provided proof will be consider a breach of contract with BtB and involved authors/editors/employees/etc.

You understand that all edits and work made by BtB’s team/s are solely for BtB’s publications of contracted manuscripts and should a contract fall through, all works done under the priorly binding contract are not allowed to be used for further publications and/or planned publications.

You understand that a lack of fulfillment for a contract, writing, marketing, etc. may result in your contracted works being unpublished and/or you may be at risk of not being accepted for further contracted works by BtB.

Anthology Submission guidelines:

  • Submissions for anthologies must be made between the opening of submissions and before the deadline.
  • Each short story must be between 3,000 to 10,000 words (unless it is 100% necessary to the story or is otherwise noted for the anthology.)
  • Each poem must be between 75 to 3,000 words.
  • Each submission must have a focus on the anthology’s theme in some form. The story must be formatted as follows: text size 12, Times New Roman, line spacing 1.15, no indent at all.
  • You can submit more than one submission. Only one short story and/or poem per author will be chosen for the anthology. (Yes, you may submit both for the chance of having one of each accepted.)
  • Submissions will be evaluated, proofread, and edited by the editing team, then returned to the author with the comments for final approval or with any questions that come up.
